FULL TIME, TENURE TRACK TEACHING POSITION MACHINE TOOL/CNC TECHNOLOGY

Salary: $54,814 - $88,193 annually

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Compton Community College District is seeking an innovative individual whose focus is student learning for a full time tenure-track position teaching Machine Tool/CNC Technology and Aerospace Fastener courses. The program is designed to teach students techniques and skills needed for employment in machine shops, aerospace, tool rooms, instrument and experimental laboratories and provides upgrade opportunities for employed industrial personnel. Contribute to the growth and development of the Machine Tool program by participating in program review, curriculum development, developing and assessing student learning outcomes, and working with an industry advisory committee. Duties also includes participation in a variety of campus and divisional activities such as faculty meetings, committee work, student activities, office hours, and curriculum/instructional development. Assignment may include teaching courses during day and evening hours including weekends. Selected candidates will be invited for an interview, which will include a teaching demonstration on an assigned topic.

 

 

 

 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Any Bachelor’s degree and 5 years full-time equivalent experience in the discipline AND any certificate or license required to do that work OR any Associate’s degree and 6 years full-time equivalent experience in the discipline and any certificate or license required to do that work OR the equivalent. Candidates not possessing the required qualifications as stated above must complete the supplemental page of the district application and explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above OR possess a valid California community college instructor credential in appropriate subject issued prior to July 1, 1990 (per California Education Code 87355) AND have sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds of college students.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Community college teaching experience; Five (5) years or more of working in metal machining, Tool & Die, manufacturing or other related fields. Demonstrated ability to cultivate partnerships with related program industry members and advisory committees. Demonstrated ability to develop a variety of effective teaching techniques and assessment methods. Ability to engage student interest to support a variety of learning styles. Familiarity with the hiring practices and skill requirements for local manufacturing and machining industry occupations. Effective oral and written communication skills.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Full time, tenure-track teaching position effective August 23, 2018. The starting salary ranges from $54,814 - $88,193 annually, depending on education and experience. Excellent fringe benefits are included.
