Job Summary

This position requires teaching a variety of theatre courses as assigned. Courses to be taught include but are not limited to Stagecraft, Lighting for Stage & Studio and Introduction to Theatre. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for scenic design and technical direction on theatre productions as assigned. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to academic advisement, student mentoring, curriculum development, recruitment and retention, and serving on college committees.

Masterís degree or MFA in Theatre, with an emphasis in design.

Desired Qualifications

Academic emphasis in theatre design; experience designing sets for live theatre productions; experience in teaching theatre at the college level; knowledge of theatre equipment and safe theatrical practices including lighting, carpentry, stagecraft and rigging; ability to teach both traditional design practices, such as scenic drawings, ground plans, elevations, renderings, and model-making, as well as a demonstrated proficiency in industry standard computer software applications relevant to technical theatre.

The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated proficiency in a variety of technical theatre skills which may include: video design and projection; automated lighting programming; theatrical audio/video and electrical knowledge and experience; properties construction and design; upholstery; costume crafts; and costume construction.

Bilingual and proficient in English and Spanish.

Special Instructions Summary

The following will be required of finalists: two (2) reference letters; teaching portfolio; and a design portfolio.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, with priority consideration given to applications completed by February 27, 2018. Additional completed applications may be considered after February 27, 2018. Posting will remain open until the position is filled.

This is a full-time, tenure track faculty position. Salary placement is commensurate with education and experience. The minimum 2017 Ė 2018 academic year (Fall & Spring Semester) base salary range was $48,412, with a masterís degree to $62,972 with a doctorate in the subject field. The base salary range for the 2018-2019 academic year has not been determined. Optional contract for the summer session offers potential for significantly greater earnings.

Faculty may be assigned to any of the three CLC campuses; Grayslake, Lakeshore or Southlake. New faculty hires are required to attend orientation the week prior to the start date of August 13, 2018.

Pay Rate: Per faculty contract. Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-Time Location: Grayslake Total Hours per week: Fifteen (15) load hours and ten (10) office hours.

Work Schedule

Variable. Ability to teach days, evening and weekends as determined by the needs of the Theatre program in any given semester. Ability to teach on Grayslake, Lakeshore or Southlake campus.
