Lecturer in Discipline Insurance Management
Columbia University, School of Professional Studies

The School of Professional Studies (SPS) at Columbia University invites applications for full-time positions at the rank of Lecturer in Discipline or Senior Lecturer in Discipline to teach in the Insurance Management MS Program. This positions will begin on July 1, 2018. These are full-time appointments with multi-year renewal contingent on successful review.

The successful candidates will teach courses related to Insurance Management in one or more of the following areas: economics, risk, behavioral economics, marketing, reinsurance, insurance law and regulation, entrepreneurship, and insurance finance.

The successful candidates may be asked to serve in an administrative capacity for the MS program. Responsibilities include leading programmatic and curricular development efforts, professional development opportunities for students, and strategic planning for the program, such as marketing, enrollment, student life, and alumni affairs.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidates will hold a master's degree in business, finance, management, risk management, actuarial science, economics, behavioral economics, or other areas related to insurance management and exhibit a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, instructional design, and professional practice and/or scholarship.

Candidates at the rank of Senior Lecturer in Discipline are expected to have substantial experience and accomplishments, and a superlative record of teaching as a lecturer, and documented evidence of excellence in carrying out administrative or other department responsibilities.

Candidates at the rank of Lecturer in Discipline are expected to have teaching experience, documented evidence of excellence, and evidence of professional growth and activity in the given field.
