Summary of the Position

Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Digital Gift Officer works with colleagues across departments to develop effective multi-channel campaigns that will generate contributed income via targeted online programs as well as fundraising initiatives involving new and developing channels and technologies. He/She is innovative and technologically savvy, and responds to ever-changing opportunities for digital engagement and fundraising. The Digital Gift Officer meets short-term and long-term goals by utilizing or developing “best practices” for digital fundraising across multiple platforms.



Essential Functions

Using provided resources (EverTrue's cloud platform, and crowdfunding and giving days platform), develop, manage, and execute campaigns that increase donor participation and annual donations through segmenting and innovative multi-channel outreach.

Working with the Director of Annual Giving, develop, launch, manage, test, and measure multi-channel fundraising campaigns including the #GivingTuesday campaign, other giving days, and micro-campaigns. Create a crowdfunding program for Bentley that extends the annual giving program to greater audiences and funding opportunities.

Carry a portfolio of digital prospects. Additionally, identify and cultivate prospects through digital tools, and initiates strategies to engage for further cultivation, solicit for targeted campaigns, or highlight for potential leadership giving.

Work to ensure successful promotion and engagement of our campaigns on social media. In conjunction with colleagues in Advancement Communications, write and edit content for social and email communications. Determine and target display advertising, retargeting, and mobile geo-location to amplify and boost our messages.

Participate in a cross-department group of application users and digital officers to stay closely coordinated in all efforts.

Marginal Duties
As a member of the Office of Annual Giving, the Digital Gift Officer contributes to the esprit de corps and collegiality of the department, working collaboratively towards shared goals.

He/She promotes the Annual Fund to our internal and external constituents. The Senior Gift Officer partners and collaborates with colleagues across departments, including Advancement Communications, Advancement Relations, Advancement Services, and Stewardship. He/She attends relevant events, as requested by the Director of Annual Giving.

Applying industry best practices, the Digital Gift Officer will also maintain an awareness of successful initiatives utilized at peer institutions and make recommendations to grow Bentley's digital fundraising program. He/She may be asked to attend conferences relevant to primary responsibilities, requiring occasional travel.

The Digital Gift Officer will liaise with vendors relevant to job responsibilities, as needed or requested.


Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications(Education and Experience Requirements)

Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of successful digital fundraising or marketing experience. A comprehensive understanding of higher education fundraising is desirable. Demonstrated success in program development and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse campus constituencies. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks and meet deadlines and goals. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database and reporting software is important. Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted United States driver's license with an insurable driving history as determined by Bentley's insurance carrier.






Physical Demands

Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking and standing and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, finger coordination enabling use of computers and other office equipment. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as a telephone.
