Description/Job Summary

Overview of position: Summary of Medical Director Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Program Director to ensure that the programís didactic instruction meets current practice standards as they relate to the respiratory therapistsí role in providing patient care
  • Work with the Program Director and Director of Clinical Education to ensure that the programís supervised clinical practice experiences meet current practice standards as they relate to the respiratory therapistsí role in providing patient care
  • Serve as a member of the Program Advisory Board
  • Interact with the Programís students when they participate in clinical rotations at the Medical Directorís institution
  • Provide one instructional session per semester to the Programís students


Employees in this classification receive supervision from the Associate Dean of Health Professions.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • License State of Maryland Physician by Maryland Board of Physicians
  • Board Certified in a specialty relevant to Respiratory Care, as recognized by the American Board of Specialties or American Osteopathic Association
  • Current staff physician at an institution that serves as a clinical site for the Respiratory Care Program of Baltimore City Community College
  • Two years of training and/or experience, in the management of respiratory disease and in respiratory care practices.†
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience serving as a Medical Director for a Patient Care unit
  • and/or Respiratory Care department
  • and/or Respiratory Care educational program
