Physician Faculty - Psychiatry

The Central Michigan University College of Medicine is seeking highly qualified physician faculty for a non-tenure track position in Psychiatry.
This is a unique opportunity for academic physicians to pursue a career dedicated to medical education while contributing to the university’s mission.
Successful candidates will assume a role that will include classroom teaching, sustained scholarly activity, clinical practice, and committee service.
Positions will be at Assistant – Associate – Full Professor rank, depending on credentials.
Start dates are negotiable.
College of Medicine faculty work collaboratively and interactively to teach the basic medical sciences in a clinically relevant format. The curriculum includes an Essentials of Clinical Skills course in which the bedside skills of doctoring are taught in a manner closely integrated with the basic science curriculum.
To be considered for this appointment applicants are expected to demonstrate multidimensional qualifications in clinical practice, medical education and/or curriculum development. Faculty member is also expected to be involvement in community based and regional initiatives focusing on mental health.
Minimum Qualifications: M.D. or D.O. degree, certification by an American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association recognized clinical specialty, licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Michigan, established credentials or developing potential in clinical practice, strong commitment to innovative approaches to education and learning, ability or commitment to facilitate interactive learning in large and small group settings, experience with independent design and conduct of research consistent with discipline(s), strong collaborative and communication skills, and demonstrated commitment to diversity.
Applicants applying for advanced rank should have a demonstrated record of teaching in large and small group settings and an established area of scholarly activity.
Additional/Desired Qualifications: Interest or experience in teaching medical students or developing teaching programs for medical students, experience with cross disciplinary teaching, documented experience in patient and or problem-based medical education, experience with, or a strong knowledge of, pedagogical approaches such as team based learning.
