Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruct classes in Mathematics. Assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive mathematics curriculum. Advance student learning through dedicated, exemplary instruction in accordance with established course outlines. Participate in the development and revision of curriculum in department and college committees and in professional development activities. Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter area and in effective teaching/learning strategies; maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
Assignment may include evening or weekend hours, and/or mathematics tutorial and mathematics learning center classes.

Participate in general faculty functions related to the educational program, in-service programs, and professional development. Participation in development and assessment of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs).

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:    
For this position, employees must have at least one of the following:
1. Master’s degree or higher in mathematics or applied mathematics from an accredited college or university; OR
2. Bachelor’s degree in either of the above AND a Master’s degree or higher in statistics, physics, or mathematics education from an accredited college or university; OR
3. Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990); OR
4. A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of items 1 or 2 above.

Experience Required:    
• Minimum of one (1) year (full-or part-time) of successful experience teaching Mathematics at the college level.
• Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
• Experience in alternate instructional styles such as computer-aided and individualized instruction.

Desired Qualifications:    
Preference will be given those candidates who demonstrate a high level of professional expertise on the basis of:
• College teaching experience in both development and transfer-level Mathematics.
• A minimum of 24 semester units in Mathematics; 12 must be graduate, 12 may be upper division, verifiable by both undergraduate and graduate transcripts (official and/or unofficial) at time of application.
• Experience in teaching students with different learning styles including the possible use of computer technology as a teaching tool.
