Position Summary:

The School of Business & Law is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach Transportation, Logistics and Cargo Security courses for the Business Management Department. Faculty is responsible for providing high quality instruction in all credit business programs. Instruction may be in a variety of formats, including but not limited to classroom, distance, online and off campus. The off campus instruction will include teaching in the local high schools and contract credit courses to local industry partners at their facilities or some designated off-site location. In addition to instructional responsibilities, the faculty member will have a major role in curriculum development, assessment strategies, outcomes measurement, engaged learning, special events, partnerships, publications, career and academic advising, and mentoring.

While faculty work of 30 faculty load hours an academic year will include primary responsibilities for teaching and assessing learning and for institutional service, advising, and professional development, the college seeks to break the frame that traditionally surrounds faculty assignments, especially since academic divisional needs vary. As such, faculty should expect to integrate with their primary responsibilities some combination of the following,

  1. Creating experiential learning opportunities and assessment techniques, (e.g., work-based and service learning; portfolio assessment, including developing and evaluating learning portfolios; etc.)
  2. Mentoring
    • students from target groups
    • new full-time faculty
    • part-time faculty
  3. Designing, formatting and delivering curriculum for synchronous and asynchronous learning
  4. Training and consulting for workforce initiatives (e.g., for public and corporate partners, etc.)
  5. Developing and implementing community education and extended learning programs
  6. Partnering with colleagues to enhance services to students and the community
    • recruiting and marketing
    • advising with expanded responsibilities
    • devising retention strategies and activities
  7. Strengthening relations and collaborative activities with K-12 and baccalaureate-granting colleagues

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Masterís degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Business experience with a logistics/transportation background.
  • Teaching experience or conducting professional development training.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience teaching business or conducting professional development training courses.
  • Experience in assessment, curriculum development, and/or curriculum design.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering instruction in a non-traditional setting using various delivery modes, including teaching contract courses and courses in high schools.
  • Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office, social media and the internet.
  • Administrative experience in a community college environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and locations, including some weekends and evenings and required.
