Dr. John T. Sears Endowed Teaching Chair in Corporate Social Responsibility
St. Francis Xavier University

The Dr. John T. Sears Endowed Teaching Chair in Corporate Social Responsibility will demonstrate a commitment to effective teaching, research and preparing the next generation of globally responsible managers. She or he will have substantial experience teaching in the field of CSR as well as a strong publication record in peer-refereed journals. Fundamentally, the Chair’s teaching and research should be guided by the principles of sustainability and sustainable systems. The holder of the Sears Chair would be eligible for a reduced teaching load in the first two years to reflect the development expectations that accompany the position. This position represents an outstanding opportunity for an individual interested in “making a difference” by:

  • teaching/developing courses in one or more CSR areas, such as sustainable leadership, sustainable business practice, corporate and social responsibility
  • advancing research in one or more CSR areas and, in doing so, helping to develop highly qualified personnel
  • furthering management practices to promote local and global responsible business activity
  • engaging subject matter experts in the area as visiting lecturers or colloquia participants

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in an appropriate area and will be foremost an excellent and innovative teacher, along with possessing a demonstrated record of high-quality scholarly research and a capacity for collegial service.

Ideal candidates will also bring related professional experience to support our focus on relevant curriculum and education.
