The Johns Hopkins University (JHU) School of Education (SOE) invites applications for promotion- track, open rank faculty positions in Education.
Applications will be accepted immediately for start dates as early as January 1, 2018.
The successful candidates will have primary responsibility in the JHU SOE online Doctor of Education (EdD) program with program affiliation and teaching duties in at least one masterís program.
The JHU SOE EdD program is a growing program with dynamic students from across the educational spectrum in specialization areas such as Entrepreneurial Leadership in Education; Mind, Brain, and Teaching; Instructional Design and Online Teaching and Learning; Technology Integration within K-16 Education; and Urban Leadership. We are building our faculty capacity to support these dynamic specializations.

The JHU SOE graduate programs seek to develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions of students as they engage in leading efforts to build new venture opportunities in varied educational contexts. Through multidisciplinary lenses, educational leaders will promote innovation in the paradigms, strategies, values and culture in their individual professional context. Our goal is to provide powerful graduate education experiences in an environment of entrepreneurship and innovation.
We anticipate hiring four clinical faculty members for the following positions.
Advisement Coordinator (Full professor qualifications preferred): In collaboration with the EdD Director, the Advisement Coordinator will coordinate advisement for the EdD program, serve as mentor for new and adjunct advisers, advise students, serve as co-adviser for adjunct advisers as needed, support program evaluation; and other duties as assigned. Significant advisement of doctoral students within a practice focused doctoral degree is preferred.
Clinical Faculty (Assistant or Associate Professor):
Three core EdD faculty members with practical experience, research interests, and teaching expertise aligned with the following areas (1) Urban Education Leadership and Entrepreneurship, (2) Mathematics Education (K-8), and (3) Education research methodology with a content focus in Educational Technology.
Candidates must have a doctorate in an Education or related field at time of appointment.
Applicants should provide evidence of the following competencies and interests: (1) evidence of strong potential for excellence in college teaching at the graduate level; (2) expertise in one or more areas of specialization indicated above; (3) experience teaching in online learning contexts; (4) strong interest in and requisite skills to mentor and advise doctoral students; (5) evidence of effective collaboration, and (6) expertise in mixed methods research design appropriate to support rigorous practitioner-scholar doctoral research.
The ideal candidate will be transformative, reform minded, and have experience working in educational settings and organizations and experience or interest in applying educational research in professional environments.
Desired qualifications include: (1) experience translating academic research into practice and policy; (2) experience teaching or advising students to conduct practitioner-focused research methodology courses; and (3) demonstrated experience in grant preparation or participation.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with researchers in SOE centers including the Center for Social Organization of Schools, Center for Research and Reform in Education, and Center for Technology in Education.
