ACADEMIC COORDINATOR, VETERANS UPWARD BOUND - JOB #2554

The Academic Coordinator, Veterans Upward Bound Project will be responsible for implementing academic programs in required disciplines, providing an Individual Educational Plan (IEP) for each participant, coordinating testing services, providing quality instruction, monitoring student progress, coordinating advisement, and the supervision of instructors, lab managers, and tutors. Additionally, the successful candidate will assist in the public relations and veterans recruiting efforts; prepare progress reports on project participants; provide support, guidance, and direction to grant participants; respond to requests for information; maintain student academic files; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with students in the program. This position reports to the Project Director, Veterans Upward Bound Project. This is a grant-funded position.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master's degree in education, adult education or related field. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
Prefer experience in federal education programs, transfer counseling, and working with educationally disadvantaged students; a minimum of one-year experience providing supportive services to military populations. Preference will be given to qualified applicants from a background similar to the targeted population (military veteran).
