The University of California, Berkeley invites applications for approved tenure and tenure-track positions in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor level. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The expected start date for this position is July 1, 2018. We will also consider possible joint appointments with department-affiliated institutes and initiatives, or other UC Berkeley departments.

The minimum qualification required to be considered an applicant for the position is the completion of all Ph.D. degree or equivalent degree requirements except the dissertation at the time of application.
Applicants are required to have received (or expect to receive within one year of appointment) a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field. Additional qualifications include evidence of ability to establish and pursue a program of high quality research and a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate teaching. Prioritizing candidates' overall originality and promise over sub-area of specialization, we seek applicants interested in creating innovative and far-reaching solutions to important problems in electrical engineering and computer science, as well as applicants whose research, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education. The department is committed to addressing the family needs of faculty, including dual career couples and single parents.

Applications must include a curriculum vitae, statement of research, statement of teaching, diversity statement (addressing past and/or potential contributions to diversity through research, teaching, and/or service), three selected publications, and the names of three to five references who will send letters of recommendation. Additional recommendation letters may be solicited by the department for tenured-level finalists during the final stage of the recruitment process. Candidates may also submit an optional cover letter. Applications will be reviewed as they arrive and initial review will begin November 15, 2017; applicants are strongly encouraged to apply before this date. Applications will continue to be reviewed until January 5, 2018, when the application period closes. Applications received after that date will not be considered.
