Assistant Professor - Collection Development & Electronic Resources Librarian
The Library at Shippensburg University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty librarian, starting in August 2018, who will serve as the Collection Development and Electronic Resources Librarian. This position has two major areas of responsibility, which are of equal importance: (1) research assistance and library instructional support to university students, faculty, and staff; and (2) leadership for physical collection development activities and for selection and implementation of electronic resources.
Based on her/his skill set and the needs of the library, the incumbent will serve on library and university committees and taskforces and will be assigned additional library responsibilities including liaison duties in several academic departments.

Candidates must hold a master’s degree in library science from an A.L.A. accredited program. Please note: a second master’s degree in a subject area is required by tenure. Candidates must have a passion for teaching and dedication to student success, knowledge and expertise with relevant reference databases and resources, and a high level of comfort and proficiency with technology. Candidates must have professional library or library-related work experience, with substantial experience in library collection development and electronic resources management. As part of a successful on-campus interview process, selected candidates will provide a demonstration of teaching excellence and evidence of understanding diverse populations.
Preferred: Applicants with either a second master’s degree or a doctoral degree.
This nine-month position has an excellent salary and benefits package competitive with twelve-month positions. This is a tenure-track faculty position, with full benefits equal in standing to all other faculty members including full tuition waiver at all PA State System of Higher Education universities.
