The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the Whitlowe R. Green College of Education invites applications for a scholar and teacher in Education for a full-time tenure-track position as an Assistant/Associate Professor. Primary duties include, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in special education at all levels (PK – 12); but are not limited to, supervising students during their student teaching internships; developing partnerships with local schools; and contributing to the assessment and accreditation of teacher education programs. Responsibilities of this 9-month position also include advising a diverse community of students and the recruiting of adjuncts to teach courses in the program. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a substantive research agenda; engage in service assignments in the department, college, university, and service to the professional organizations in Special Education.

QUALIFICATIONS: Interested applicants must have aDoctoral degree in special education with a specialization in a disability area or a related field from an accredited program and institution (Advanced ABD status—the doctorate must be completed by August 31, 2017.); capacity for successful teaching and research at the university level and commitment to working with diverse populations. Applicants for the position of Associate Professor must meet the minimum requirements and possess a distinguished record of academic achievement (established research agenda including recent publications and presentations, and experience with content and educator preparer standards) that meets the criteria for Associate Professor status at Prairie View A& M University.
