Prairie View A&M University and the Department of Educational Leadership & Counseling in the Whitlowe R. Green College of Education invite applications for a scholar and teacher in School Counseling for a full-time tenure-track position as an Assistant/Associate Professor. Primary duties include, effective teaching and ethical supervision a substantive research agenda, and professional service and leadership, but are not limited to, teaching graduate face-to-face and online courses in the Master’s Degree Program, pursuing external funding, coordination and maintenance of outreach activities with school district partners; experience with program revision/development. Candidates should have, or be eligible for, relevant school counseling credentials according to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors.
Prairie View A&M University, a member of the Texas A&M University System, is a public land grant university located 45 miles northwest of Houston, Texas, the nation’s fourth largest city. It has an enrollment of more than 8,000 students and offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in a variety of disciplines. QUALIFICATIONS: Interested applicants must have a Doctoral degree in Counselor Education or a related field from an CACREP-accredited program (Advanced ABD status—the doctorate must be completed by August 31, 2017); capacity for successful teaching and research at the university level and commitment to working with diverse populations. Applicants for the position of Associate Professor must meet the minimum requirements and possess a distinguished record of academic achievement (established research agenda including recent publications and presentations, and experience with CACREP standards) that meets the criteria for Associate Professor status at Prairie View A& M University.
