Tenure-track Asst/Assoc Professor - Manufacturing Engineering Technology

The Purdue Polytechnic transformation requires faculty with both high technical competence and the ability and desire to teach in active classrooms. This person will be expected to teach students in our Manufacturing Engineering Technology and Industrial Engineering Technology degree programs. We are looking for candidates with strengths in the application of process optimization and modelling in an industrial setting, sustainable manufacturing, connected factory and industry 4.0. Expertise in computing in relation to these fields is highly desirable.
In addition to teaching and research, the candidate will be expected to aid in curriculum development for the automation and systems integration, the mechatronics and the robotics majors within the MFET program and in concert with the RIoT Zone initiative (Robotics and IoT). As the MFET and IET programs grow at our statewide locations, there will be an increased demand for these courses in multiple instructional formats. Similarly, the candidate will need to participate in our graduate programs, both on campus and online.
The candidate is expected to be able to generate fundable research in their chosen field, and to be able to sustainably support graduate students. Particular areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, sensors, intelligent control, data-centric methodologies for the digital enterprise, integration of cyber-physical and I-IoT systems with advanced automation and manufacturing.
The candidate is expected to be able to interface with external clients and to establish relationships through our Office of Engagement with companies looking for ways to engage with our students. This may take the form of mentoring senior capstone teams as well as graduate research.
Applicants must have a PhD in engineering technology, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
This position requires the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing for both classroom effectiveness and external engagement. People with the proven ability to contribute to an inclusive workplace are particularly encouraged to apply. Relevant, recent industrial experience and prior teaching experience are highly desirable.
