Tenure-track Asst/Assoc Professor - Energy Engineering Technology
School of Engineering Technology
The Purdue Polytechnic transformation requires faculty with both high technical competence and the ability and desire to teach in active classrooms. We are looking for candidates to teach students in our Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) program with strengths in the application of power electronics, smart metering and smart grid, and energy control for sustainable manufacturing. Candidates with the ability to adapt this content for students in the mechatronics and robotics majors within the Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MFET) program are desirable.
In addition to teaching and research, the candidate will be expected to aid in curriculum development for the energy engineering technology major and provide technical depth to the EET program. Energy is new as a major, but has long been a core area for EET. As the EET programs grow at our statewide locations, there will be an increased demand for these courses, in multiple formats. The candidate will need to participate in our graduate programs, both on campus and online.
The candidate is expected to be able to generate fundable research in their chosen field, and to be able to sustainably support graduate students. Particular areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the application of smart grid technology and sensing related to IoT in advanced manufacturing.
The candidate is expected to be able to interface with external clients and to establish relationships through our Office of Engagement with companies looking for ways to engage with our students. This may take the form of mentoring senior capstone teams, as well as graduate research.
Applicants must have a PhD in engineering technology, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
This position requires the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing for both classroom effectiveness and external engagement.
People with the proven ability to contribute to an inclusive workplace are particularly encouraged to apply. Relevant, recent industrial experience and prior teaching experience are highly desirable.
Purdue Polytechnic Institute is committed to advancing diversity in all areas of faculty and staff effort, including scholarship, instruction, and engagement. Candidates should address at least one of these areas in a cover letter, indicating how their past experiences, current interests and activities, and/or future goals could promote a work climate that values inclusion.
Submission should include 1) a cover letter stating the position and location being applied for, 2) a resume or CV, 3) a clear statement of teaching and research interests, 4) a statement addressing inclusivity, and 5) the names of three references. All applications should be submitted to: email@example.com, with the subject line: Energy Engineering Tech Position | West Lafayette | Posting #003781-2017.
Screening will begin January 1, 2018 and conclude when the position is filled.
A background check is required for employment in this position. Purdue University is an EOE/AA employer. All individuals, including minorities, women, individuals with disabilities, and veterans are encouraged to apply.
