Dean for Institutional Diversity
Allegheny College seeks a collaborative and strategic leader as our Dean for Institutional Diversity, serving as the senior diversity and inclusion officer of the College.† The Dean will report to the Provost, will work closely with the Vice President and Dean of Students, and will have a seat on the Presidentís cabinet.† As such, the Dean will find positive partnerships and will be positioned to shape and implement initiatives in support of the Collegeís commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and equity.† The successful candidate will have a clear commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education and we expect that the Dean will work to advance an inclusive educational community for students, faculty, and staff.
The Dean will work within a unit-based model, providing leadership for the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access & Social Justice (IDEAS) Center, which is closely aligned with Student Life and is led by an Associate Dean & Director with the support of an Associate Director.† The Dean will co-chair (with a faculty member) the Collegeís Council on Diversity and Equity, providing leadership and vision for this group for advancing campus inclusivity.† In addition to supporting and enhancing existing faculty and student development programs to foster an inclusive campus climate, the Dean will work collaboratively with the Provostís Office and the Office of Human Resources to hire and retain a diverse faculty and staff.† The Dean will work closely with the Provost to identify resources and to set priorities to realize these goals. †

The successful candidate will have experience in diversity infrastructures and with leadership in a multi-stakeholder environment along with a commitment to equity, justice, inclusion, and the principles of freedom of speech and inquiry.†
Qualifications include a minimum of a Masterís level degree with 7-10 years of appropriate professional experience including higher education administration.†
A PhD or other terminal degree along with experience in an undergraduate liberal arts institution is preferred.
