JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT
The Enrollment Specialist has primary responsibility for the recruitment, pre-registration and enrollment activities of prospective students for high schools, business and industry, and other targeted populations. The enrollment specialist is responsible for planning and directing recruitment programs and special activities, for serving as a liaison with public and private high schools, and advising individual students and families regarding the admission standards, policies, procedures, and college programs. The Enrollment Specialist has direct responsibility for achieving enrollment targets by building relationships with students, families, school counselors, business and industry, and relevant AACC internal constituencies, and for coordinating strategies to convert prospects to first-time freshmen.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as a primary contact for assigned high school students and targeted populations, the general population, and business and industry. Respond to information requests, inquiries (email, telephone and walk-ins) regarding the admission and enrollment process.
Achieve identified recruitment targets by developing and implementing strategies and programming supported by research and best practices that will inform, orientate, and transition prospects to full-time freshmen.
Develop, conduct, and evaluate presentations and programming, in collaboration with Anne Arundel County Public School partners to:
- Improve college-knowledge
- Convey brand value
- Include a focus on key marketing messages of the institution, with particular attention paid to academic outcomes.
- Develop customized presentations or programming based on interests, actions, demographic data, and inclusion.
- Include a clear call to action appropriate to the students.
- Meet enrollment targets
Identify, monitor, track, and communicate (telephone, email, and mail) with students from assigned high schools from initial contact through registration.
Provide initial enrollment advising, including a comprehensive view of the enrollment process, and continued enrollment advising for Early College Access Program participants. Work in conjunction with department liaisons to facilitate the enrollment and billing of students participating in the Early College Access Program.
Participate in a plan of professional development to stay current regarding best practices for the profession, to have an understanding of academic and career program offerings and requirements, career and transfer opportunities, enrollment and demographic trends, employment outlook, and to develop cultural competency, in order to establish and implement recruitment and enrollment strategies that reflect a “student-ready” institution.
Provide statistical summaries, reports and evaluations of recruitment activities, including, but not limited to the strategies for meeting enrollment targets.
Interpret and enforce admissions standards, policies, and procedures.
Participate in admissions and special enrollment activities, including, but not limited to, the College Connection Open House, College Fair, Maryland College Application Campaign, Enrollment Completion Calling Campaigns, Early FAFSA, and Personal Registration Days.
Coordinate and collaborate with Student Information Services to provide admission and enrollment information as part of the AACC College Visit programming.
Serve on division and college-wide work teams and committees as required.
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the department, consistent with the role of this position.
