The K-12 Educational Leadership Program within the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies seeks one (1) tenure track assistant; one (1) tenure-track assistant or tenured associate professors; and one (1) clinical assistant professor. We are looking for a new colleague who shares our department's philosophical commitment to developing educational leaders who will advance innovative, efficient, and socially just education policy solutions through collaborative research, praxis, and practice activities. In particular, our program aims, through its scholarship, teaching, and service to its students and graduates, to strengthen educational opportunities and outcomes for all students, particularly those individuals historically underserved by our current educational and social systems.

For our tenure track positions, we welcome applicants who utilize a full range of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methodological approaches. While a broad set of research areas will be considered, priority will be placed on applicants whose scholarship and teaching: a) address issues of equity and adequacy that translate to improving schools, districts, and education policy; (b) utilize a full range of quantitative analytical approaches; (d) consider issues of K-12 budgeting and finance, law, policy, and/or related areas; and (e) investigate issues salient to the experiences of underserved students.

For our clinical track position, we welcome applicants who are research-based practitioners interested in engaging in instructional and other activities focused broadly on developing effective school and district leaders.  Priority will be placed on candidates who have experience in the following areas: demonstrated effectiveness as a school and district leader; expertise in establishing and maintaining district partnerships; knowledge and application of state and federal leadership standards; and/or an understanding of best practices with respect to adult learning.

Additionally, importance will be placed on applicants who have deep understanding of the Texas K-12 educational context.

Our university is located in the heart of Houston, Texas, the nation 's fourth largest city. This metropolitan area offers scholars rich urban and suburban environments in which to work and live. The University of Houston, with one of the most diverse student bodies in the nation, seeks to recruit and retain n a diverse community of scholars. Within that context, our department prides itself on the multiple forms of diversity embraced and valued as strengths by our students, staff, faculty, and community. We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer and encourage minorities, women, veterans and persons with disabilities to apply. The University of Houston is also responsive to the needs of dual career couples.

Job Requirements

Qualifications: Our program currently offers two innovative degrees: an Ed.D. in Professional Leadership and an M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision. Competitive applicants are expected to hold a terminal degree in a related field.
