Position Summary:

Established in 1961, AACC is a fully-accredited, public two-year institution that offers national and regional studies that can lead to a degree or certificate, industry credential, transfer to a four-year institution, or career enhancement, personal enrichment and lifelong learning.

The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting in the planning, oversight, analysis and development for programs and initiatives serving older adult students. Responsibilities include faculty recruitment and retention, enrollment growth and management, nurturing and growth of key partnerships, and student engagement.

This position reports to the Director of the Center on Aging (COA).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Management: Assist with day-to-day management of programs and assigned staff, including compliance requirements adherence to standards of best practice. Oversee the recruitment, retention and professional development of more than 200 faculty members. Manage and develop a portfolio of courses for older adults to meet enrollment goals.

Budget and Fiscal Management: Assist Director with preparation of annual operating budget, enrollment projections and yearly departmental objectives in support of the division goals. Assist with implementation of strategies to meet revenue goals.

Program Development: Assist in the initiation and development of new programming or enhancement of current programming to meet student needs and departmental and college objectives.

Enrollment Management: Assist with ongoing analysis of COA courses and programs. Implement recommendations for modifications to course offerings, scheduling, staffing and locations. Assures instructional environments are regularly assessed and perceived as high-quality.

Strategic Planning: Work with Director and department staff to ensure departmental support for the college's initiatives, programming and curriculum to assist the college in achieving its strategic priorities.

Partnerships: Liaison and build relationships with key partners including senior center staff and volunteers, community partners, leaders of self-directed learning communities.

Student retention: Engage in problem solving and customer support activities to resolve student issues or concerns.

Other Duties: As assigned.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in adult education, psychology, human services or related field.

A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experience

Experience in budget and fiscal management.

Willingness and ability to travel to multiple site locations and work occasional nights and weekends to meet departmental and college needs.

Minimum three years’ experience demonstrating progressive responsibility for developing, implementing and managing instructional programs in an educational institution, training organization or professional association.

Demonstrated experience developing partnerships among organizations including institutions of higher education, the public sector and the community.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Strong organizational, problem solving and strategic thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree preferred.

Five (5) years of experience, including post-secondary experience preferred.

Experience teaching adult learners in a variety of delivery formats.

Ability to interact with a variety of faculty, staff and students from diverse backgrounds

Hours Per Week: 40

Work Schedule: 8:30-4:30
