Position Summary
Performs administrative and supervisory work in planning, coordinating and directing the functions of departments related to selected student support services. Specific assignments vary to meet location needs, but may include such departments as: Rising Star Program and other retention-centered cohort based programs, Academic Advising including advisement services for ESL/ESOL students, and distant learners, Texas Success Initiative, Disability Services, and other departments/programs that may be assigned. Work includes budget development and control; program development and evaluation; and interpretation and implementation of policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others. Oral and written communication skills to support a wide variety of interaction with varying levels of DCCCD staff, students, other educators/administrators and the general public from diverse backgrounds. Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service.

1. The Dean provides overall strategic leadership for the development, delivery and coordination of student engagement, academic advising and retention services.
2. Extensive experience related to designing, planning, developing strategic initiatives and measuring outcomes for student services and enrollment management in an academic setting. Strong people, administration, communication, presentation, computer, organizational, supervisory, counseling, decision making, academic and writing skills. Candidate should have strong project management, technology, and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated history of inspiring innovative thinking and best practice initiatives.
3. The successful candidate will possess evidence of management and supervisory experience and the ability to analyze multi-layered problems and propose solutions. Must possess strong analytical, problem-solving and customer service skills. Ideal candidates will have experience with student information systems/databases. This position requires excellent interpersonal, organizations, communication and leadership skills. Some evening and weekend work is required.



Physical Requirements

Minimum Knowledge and Experience
Master’s degree in related field plus three (3) years of related work experience and supervisory experience in student personnel, counseling, student success, career services, and/or judicial services, etc. Success in leading within an environment with a diverse student population. Success in working with traditionally under-represented students.  Official transcripts will be required.  ***Will be subject to a criminal background check.  Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check.***
