Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Positions (2) in Industrial Systems
University of Regina

Situated in beautiful Wascana Park, one of the largest urban parks in North America, the University of Regina is a comprehensive institution, emphasizing excellence in teaching and research, as well as public service. Experiential learning and cross-disciplinary teaching are strongly supported.

The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science presently offers five undergraduate programs that are accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board, which includes: Industrial, Electronic, Environmental, Petroleum and Software Systems Engineering. Graduate degree programs include M.Eng., M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. programs and other interdisciplinary programs. The faculty offers unique Co-operative Education and Internship programs. Approximately 1400 undergraduate students and nearly 270 graduate students (with nearly 70 doctoral candidates) are enrolled.

The Faculty enjoys close collaborative relationships with industry and government research laboratories. These include the Petroleum Technology Research Centre, the International Carbon Capture & Storage Knowledge Centre and the Saskatchewan Research Council, which are located in Regina Research Park, adjacent to the campus. More information on the Faculty can be found on our website at: www.uregina.ca/engg/.

The Faculty is committed to providing an excellent "systems approach" to engineering education with the underlying goal of producing engineering graduates with a strong foundation in technical knowledge and with the breadth of complementary skills that successful professional engineers should have in the workplace. Industrial Systems Engineering (ISE) provides instruction in Industrial, Manufacturing and Process fundamentals. The program also provides teaching support in general engineering courses and offers services to other programs within the faculty.

Job Requirements

Applications are invited for two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor rank. One applicant must have a Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering (IE) or a related field; the other applicant, a Ph.D. degree in IE or Mechanical-Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates that have relevant industrial experience. You must provide evidence of the ability to develop and teach a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses in Industrial Systems Engineering as well as develop and conduct novel research that will expand and complement our current research strengths through the development of an independent research program. The applicants must have the ability to supervise applied research at the graduate level.

For our faculty structure to continue to function at a high level, we require the successful candidates that are committed to working in a strong team environment and assume an appropriate share of the administrative service in a respectful and collegial manner. The candidates should be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or be eligible to register as a P. Eng., in Saskatchewan.

The primary teaching focus of one position will be on Risk Assessment and Decision Analysis, System Management, Simulation of Industrial Systems, Facilities Planning and Design, Statistical Quality Control, and Human Factors Engineering; other related ISE subjects include: Engineering Management and Operations Research, Logistics, and Lean/World Class Manufacturing. The other position will focus on teaching Mechanical Systems Equipment, Machine Design, Manufacturing Processes and Machinery, Computer Aided Engineering and Computer Integrated Manufacturing and other ISE related subjects. For both positions, preference will be given to the applicants who are capable of teaching any of the ISE courses.
