Job Description:

The School of Education at the University at Albany, State University of New York, invites applications for a tenure track, assistant or associate rank faculty member in Educational Psychology/Human Development. The successful applicant will have an active and rigorous research agenda with strong potential for funding, and the ability to collaborate with students and other faculty in research. Proficiency in research methods and statistical analyses is particularly welcome. Area of expertise for this position is open, however, preference will be given to applicants whose research intersects Educational Psychology and Human Development.

Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in one or more of the following areas: human learning, educational psychology, cognition, language, child, adolescent and lifespan development, developmental research methods. Mentoring and supervision of students completing independent studies and research, and dissertation research is an important component of teaching. Research mentoring and supervision, together with four courses per academic year, is the expected load.

The appointment will be in the Division of Educational Psychology and Methodology, in the Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology. The division has a growing undergraduate program in Human Development, as well as established graduate programs in Educational Psychology and Methodology.

Job Requirements


Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Educational Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Human Development and Family Studies, or substantial equivalent from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education (DOE) or internationally recognized accrediting organization
  • Applicants for appointment as Associate Professor must meet tenure expectations for the School of Education, which include, but are not limited to, a publication record that is strong in quality and quantity, and other evidence of reputation in their field; extramural research support is highly desirable.
  • Applicants must also demonstrate their ability to make a lasting contribution to students' intellectual growth.
  • Applicants at the Assistant Professor level should possess a significant record of scholarship and have demonstrated ability to develop an independent, extramurally funded program of research.
  • Applicants must address in their applications their ability to work with a culturally diverse population.

Finalists will be required to give a presentation on their program of research.
