Chairperson for the Department of Educational Technology and Literacy

As chair, the candidate will mentor, support and nurture professional growth of faculty and the department. Exercise professional leadership in the department, college and university and with external constituents. Support assessment-driven program development to further advance the department's program offerings, reputation and visibility. Advocate for mission, shared goals, values, and needed resources for the department, college and university. Oversee outreach and maintain external relationships with public school, commercial, and non-profit sectors.

As a faculty member, the candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in educational technology or a related field. Maintain a commitment to a continued research agenda. Serve as graduate faculty on dissertation committees. Participate in service activities within university and profession.

Department

The department is interdisciplinary with 23 full-time faculty. At the heart of EDTL is the Instructional Technology program, which offers a range of undergraduate courses and graduate programs in areas such as educational technology, instructional design and school library media. College of Education:

The college, in close collaboration with public and private agencies, offers a comprehensive slate of acclaimed, performance-based, professional education programs for the initial and advanced preparation of educators and industry professionals. Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in instructional technology or related field.
  • Evidence of collaborative and empowering leadership experiences.
  • Strength in communication and administrative skills.
  • Evidence of successful graduate or undergraduate teaching experiences.
  • Evidence of sustained scholarly productivity commensurate with the rank of a tenured associate professor or tenured full professor.
  • Demonstrated commitment to service within the university, the profession and community.
  • Evidence of currency in the field and innovative program development.
  • Capacity to strengthen and grow ties to local schools and school systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in PreK-12 settings.
  • Capacity to secure external funding in support of department initiatives and college vision.
  • Experience and knowledge related to assessment and accreditation.
  • Experience with online teaching and learning.
