The Grant Writer/Coordinator, Sponsored Programs, is responsible for writing, facilitating, and submitting federal, state, and local grant proposals that align with the College's mission. Provide grant writing and submission support to the AACC Foundation on an as needed basis to enhance its fundraising efforts on behalf of the College. This position is also responsible for the coordination, submission and implementation of formula grants from Maryland State Department of Education and the Maryland Higher Education Commission. The Grant Writer/Coordinator is responsible for assisting grant program managers and Business and Financial Resources Office (BFRO) personnel with the post award management of grants and contracts to ensure compliance with appropriate federal, state, local, college and non-profit rules, regulations, policies and procedures
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate, write, and submit the annual Perkins grant proposal and budget. Evaluate student enrollment reports and performance outcome data reports; update and verify inventory of CTE programs; review, evaluate, and submit student enrollment data file and Pell grant recipient report. Oversee implementation and develop and submit modification requests. Complete and submit program interim and final reports.
Coordinate development of discretionary grant proposals. Prepare and write professional quality proposals ensuring compliance with grant legislation and selection criteria specifications. Prepare proposal budgets. Obtain proposal and budget approvals and signatures and submit by deadlines. Serve as liaison with funding agency.
Monitor post-award activities. Assist project managers with administering grant-funded projects to ensure goals and objectives are met. Monitor and approve expenditure and make non-routine decisions to ensure compliance. Evaluate spending quarterly and collaborate with project managers and grants accountant to determine budget transfer needs and build spending projections in order to request budget modifications and submit no cost extensions as appropriate.
Prepare and submit budget and program modification requests. Keep complete, accurate records of grant-related events, including financial transactions, procurement decisions, selection of sub-recipients, requests of agency prior approval to make changes in the budget or project scope.
Meet monthly with project managers to provide resource support. Assist project managers with preparing project reports. Review reports, obtain signatures, and ensure submission to funding agencies by requested due date.
Ensure grant files are closed out systematically to comply with awarding agency and college requirements. Maintain records of grant activities as necessary for auditing purposes and as required by funding agencies. Archive grant files.
Manage time and effort system for grant employees.
Manage Sponsored Programs database (ITWorks). Update status and details of grants awarded and manage reporting schedules.
Review and make recommendations on grants policies and procedures and update Sponsored Programs Policies and Procedures Manual as necessary. Update and maintain the Sponsored Programs intranet web site.
- Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, or related field.
- A minimum of two (2) years of Federal grants experience and working knowledge of grant rules and regulations, including Uniform Grants Guidance under Title 2 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
- Experience with federal, state, and local grant funding agencies; monitoring and compliance procedures; and community college economic and workforce development programs.
- Ability to deal effectively with students, staff, faculty and administrators; program officers and grant specialists at federal and state funding agencies; and community partners.
- High level of expertise with Microsoft Office products - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. Ability to produce complex spreadsheets and professional quality Word documents.
- Strong statistical and analytical skills; critical reading, listening, and clarifying skills; excellent writing, editing, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; excellent organizational skills.
- Master's Degree.
- Grant writing and post award management experience in a higher education institution.
- Demonstrated experience with collaborative and team experiences.
- Ability to coordinate and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with private/foundation grants.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
