Description/Job Summary

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Property Administration the employee will provide direct supervision for Central Receiving, Central Store and Mail Courier Operations. The Employee will follow procedures to facilitate effective operations and service to the College Community.
 
Essential Job Functions:
  • Plan and implement activities related to daily warehouse operations, which includes daily receipts, deliveries and inspection of goods
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records within system through report generation and initiating modifications to the system as necessary
  • Develop courier and mail schedules and overseas delivery of service
  • Train staff in effective inventory and receiving practices
  • Ensure that deliveries are made within designated time frames
  • Manage the disposal of equipment and supplies in the College warehouse (interim duty)
  • Evaluate staff performance
  • Review storage locations to ensure the proper rotation of time sensitive items and proper location
  • Address complaints
  • Ensure that items are verified against packing slips
  • Maintains materials inventory
  • Maintains a clean work area
Scope of Responsibility:
  • Knows the formal and informal departmental goals, standards, policies and procedures which may include some familiarity of other departments within the college.
Decision Making:
  • On a regular and continuous basis, exercises sound judgment and assume responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service within the functional area.
Authority:
  • Functional supervision may be exercised over a temporary or contractual employee

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Must be willing to take classes to stay abreast of changes in the industry
Experience:
  • Two years of experience required
  • Supervisory experience required
Certification:
  • Valid driver’s license required
Communication:
  • Must be able to exchange everyday information using insight and opinion as appropriate, requiring good oral and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Knowledge of computer operations and usage
  • Knowledge of purchasing procedures and methods
  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving relations and procedures
  • Knowledge of a large variety of materials, supplies and equipment
  • Knowledge of procurement sources
  • Knowledge of purchasing laws, regulations, and policies
  • Walking and standing for prolonged periods of time
  • Heavy, moderate or light lifting and carrying (70 lbs. or more); kneeling or climbing
  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
  • Communication skills using the spoken word
  • Ability to see within normal parameters
  • Ability to hear within normal range
  • Ability to move about
  • Work in a field environment
  • Ability to travel from site to site
  • Ability to withstand exposure to noise
  • Ability to work or inspect in confined spaces or at heights on scaffolding and ladders
