Assistant Director for Financial Aid

The Assistant Director for Financial Aid performs a wide range of duties with a focus on serving as the department's functional analyst and support for the College's Student Information System (Banner), processing financial aid packages, assisting students and their parents with financial aid information , and acting as the Director of Financial Aid as needed in his/her absence.
Duties include, but are not limited to, continually reviewing and enhancing system functionality and processes to improve the student experience; managing data in Banner, including importing, exporting reviewing, performing system setup, configuration and troubleshooting; determining eligibility, processing, and awarding financial aid packages for students; performing federal verifications and communicating with students and colleagues through multiple channels; performing community outreach activities such as conducting workshops and holding meetings for students, parents, and school counselors; supervising and evaluating part-time staff; assisting in policies and procedures development and compliance; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
This is an exempt, professional staff position.
A bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of related higher education experience required; Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates and community college experience preferred.
Applicants will be evaluated on criteria including, but not limited to, experience in effectively processing financial aid; experience working with the Department of Education Title IV funds and Pell Grant program; experience planning and coordinating workshops and training sessions; supervisory experience; experience implementing, configuring, and/or managing IT systems or processes, Banner preferred; and experience analyzing (functional and technical) and developing solutions for challenges and departmental/campus needs.
