Associate Lecturer
Art and Design Department

The Peck School of the Arts is the only comprehensive arts school in the UW System, and serves more than 1,800 students, offering some of the most exciting and innovative programs in Art & Design, Dance, Film, Music, and Theatre. UW-Milwaukee is located on the east side of Milwaukee, less than a mile from Lake Michigan. The university community enjoys both the cultural and employment advantages of a large city and the pleasant surroundings of a residential neighborhood.

TEACHING:

Associate Lecturer will teach 2 degree courses per semester in the Art and Design Department of Peck School of the Arts.

Possible Courses could include: ART 118: Digital Arts: Culture, Theory, Practice, ART 107/ 302: Introduction to Photoshop and/or potentially ART 212 Introduction to Digital Studio Practice.

ARTSECO:

The ArtsECO Program Coordinator is a professional administrator who will assist the ArtsECO Director in the administrative coordination of the ArtsEco programs through the Peck School of the Arts, Department of Art and Design, in partnership with Milwaukee Public Schools and The Bradley Family Foundation/Lynden Sculpture Garden.

This position will work closely with the Director of ArtsECO on the implementation of programming that support and enhance excellence in the Art Education and teaching through the arts, by building a strong network of support for per-service, early service, and veteran teachers and their students.


Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master of Fine Arts degree or higher in Art and Design or comparable field
  • Minimum of one or more years teaching university/college level courses in digital media
  • Skill in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, After Effects, Adobe Audition, Premiere Pro, and video and sound editing software on Mac and PC Platforms as evidenced through professional or teaching experience
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Social Media Platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, etc.) on Mac and PC Platforms
  • Experience supervising, leading, and/or overseeing staff, interns, or fellows (e.g., assigning work, creating work schedules, evaluating work, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Art Education
  • Experience with data collection and database management
  • Demonstrated administrative experience in the planning and implementation of programming
  • Prior customer service experience
  • Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with others in a productive, fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in an academic, non-profit, or governmental environment
