Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Sciences
The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) at Regis College seeks a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Sciences beginning in the fall 2017 semester.
The Department of Humanities in the School of Arts and Sciences offers an interdisciplinary curriculum with undergraduate majors in Interdisciplinary Humanities, Criminal Justice Studies, and English. In addition, the Department offers a MA degree program in Cultural Heritage Administration. The Department is the major contributor to the undergraduate core curriculum.
The successful applicant will teach introductory and advanced courses in political science, comparative politics and international relations. The faculty member will teach a 4/4 load, advise students in the major, actively serve on School and College committees, and contribute to the college community life beyond the classroom, especially in conjunction with the College’s Center for Internships and Career Services and Center for Global Connections. We are currently engaged in curriculum strategic planning within SAS, an area in which the successful applicant will be expected to actively participate and contribute.
Fall 2017 courses the candidate will be expected to teach as scheduled are: Intro. to American Politics on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00am to 8:50am; Intro. to International Relations on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm to 4:45pm; Supreme Court and Constitution on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00pm to 3:15pm; and Foreign Policy on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00am to 8:50am. The scheduling of spring 2018 courses will be determined in accordance with student, department, program and school needs.
Applicants are required have an earned Ph.D. in political science specializing in comparative politics and international relations.
The ideal candidate will have prior teaching experience at the college/university level as well as program and curriculum design experience.
Demonstrated ability to teach in various formats (online, hybrid) and familiarity with academic assessment is most preferred.
