Performs administrative and supervisory work in planning, coordinating and directing the functions of departments related to student support services. Specific assignments include such departments as: Testing/Assessment, International Programs, Rising Star, Student Recruitment, Enrollment Management, Admissions and Student Code of Conduct.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develops, implements, manages and evaluates a large variety of diverse programs in support of student services programs of the college. Assumes overall responsibility for directing the activities of the personnel engaged in performing the functions of the assigned areas. Assess needs; supervise and coordinates development, implementation and evaluation of programs and associated curricula and materials. Selects, trains and evaluates staff. Develops work schedules and assignments. Develops budgets; monitors and approves department expenditures. Prepares departmental objectives; evaluates the quality of services provided and determines ways to improve services and implements changes. Ensures compliance to federal laws such as SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act). Prepares reports, proposals and recommendations for overall programs; keeps detailed records of assigned activities. Ensures adherence to applicable SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) criteria. Develops and maintains a variety of community relation activities; serves as college liaison with various student/community outreach organizations. Responsible for enforcing Student Code of Conduct. In the absence of Executive Vice President, acts as administrator in charge of all Executive Vice President reporting areas. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others. Excellent oral and written communication skills to support a wide variety of interaction with varying levels of DCCCD staff, students, other educators/administrators and the public from diverse backgrounds. The ability to provide quality customer service.

Minimum Knowledge and Experience
Master’s degree plus four years of experience in student services, supervision and management. A working knowledge of the areas supervised is necessary, but specialized know-how in each area is not required.
1. The Dean provides overall strategic leadership for the development, delivery and coordination of student engagement, academic advising and retention services.
2. Extensive experience related to designing, planning, developing strategic initiatives and measuring outcomes for student services and enrollment management in an academic setting. Strong people, administration, communication, presentation, computer, organizational, supervisory, counseling, decision making, academic and writing skills. Candidate should have strong project management, technology, and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated history of inspiring innovative thinking and best practice initiatives.
3. The successful candidate will possess evidence of management and supervisory experience and the ability to analyze multi-layered problems and propose solutions. Must possess strong analytical, problem-solving and customer service skills. Ideal candidates will have experience with student information systems/databases. This position requires excellent interpersonal, organizations, communication and leadership skills. Some evening and weekend work is required.
