FACULTY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY           

California State University East Bay is searching for pediatric or maternity or medical-surgical, tenure-track faculty. We prefer candidates with successful teaching experience at the university level, must and have a doctoral degree, be eligible to RN license and BRN faculty approval. THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Nursing and Health Sciences is in the College of Science.  The department has about 500 students in BSN and RN-BSN programs.  The college has been ranked the most diverse in the continental United States and the nursing students reflect this diversity.  The nursing program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).  Nursing program graduates have a history of strong performance on the NCLEX. The Department has a reputation for producing highly skilled health professionals and enjoys supportive relationships with the regional healthcare facilities.  Given the need for healthcare providers in the San Francisco Bay Area, there is strong potential for expansion of programs. A Master’s of Science in Nursing degree program is anticipated in Fall, 2018.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION:  We are seeking a candidate qualified in pediatrics or maternity or medical-surgical nursing. The position will include teaching courses in the classroom and clinical setting.  Assignment will be determined by need or expertise. In addition to teaching, all faculty have advising responsibilities, assist the department with administrative and committee work, and are expected to assume campus-wide committee responsibilities. Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay include courses at the Hayward, Concord and Online campuses. 

RANK AND SALARY:  Assistant Professor or Associate Professor:  Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience.  Subject to budgetary authorization.

DATE OF APPOINTMENT: Fall 2018

Qualifications

Candidates are required to have a Master’s Degree and a Doctoral Degree with expertise in pediatrics or maternity or medical-surgical nursing.  It is strongly preferred that the Master's Degree be in nursing.  We prefer candidates with successful teaching experiences at the University level.  To be recommended, candidates must be eligible for a California RN license, meet Board of Registered Nursing faculty qualifications, and should demonstrate experience in teaching, mentoring, research or community service that has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence.  Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a record of scholarly activity.
