STUDENT SERVICES ADVISOR - JOB #2504
Pensacola State College

The Student Services Advisor is a full-time professional/managerial position. The Student Services Advisor will provide admissions, financial aid, academic, and career guidance to students; provide prospective and new students with information regarding orientation requirements, residency requirements, transcript requests, testing requirements, financial aid application processes, veteran services, and selecting programs of study. Additionally, the Student Services Advisor will work closely with other departments on retention and completion strategies; use admissions tools, including admissions checklists, information packets, residency documents, the student records system, and online applications processes; and review and interpret placement and other standardized test scores, unofficial transcripts, and course prerequisites; provide appropriate referrals for students needing additional academic or student services; and participate in special projects as assigned. This position reports to the Director, South Santa Rosa Center.

 


Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Prefer graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master’s degree; admissions, financial aid, or academic advising experience in a college/university setting; ability to interact professionally and respectfully with diverse populations; ability to work as a member of a team and with minimal supervision; and ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

ANNUAL RANGE:

$25,000.00 - $32,000.00 (Depending on the qualifications, the salary is negotiable. However, the college does not generally hire at the top of the range.)
