The Director of Development and Community Engagement, WSRE position is a full-time administrative position.
The Director of Development and Community Engagement provides leadership and administrative management to the WSRE Development Department with general responsibility for station fundraising activities, including but not limited to, membership drives, web fundraising, grant proposals, membership, capital campaigns, and other non-traditional fundraising activities. The Director will work with the General Manager to create a multi-year strategy to grow the portfolio of business underwriters and lead business solicitation efforts; develop, maintain, and execute WSRE’s annual fundraising plan, oversee planning and organization of special events – including fundraisers and donor cultivation/stewardship; and work with the General Manager to secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and businesses in accordance with budget goals. This position is a key member of the WSRE Leadership Team and reports to the General Manager, WSRE.
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree and five years of progressively responsible work experience in fund raising, corporate foundation work, or non-profit fundraising activities are required. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
Prefer at least three years’ experience in the development department within a public media organization; demonstrated organizational, supervision, and communication skills; knowledge of sales techniques, management principles, marketing, goal setting, and budgeting; and experience with fundraising database software.
$48,000.00 - $58,000.00 (Depending on the qualifications, the salary is negotiable. However, the college does not generally hire at the top of the range.)
