Assistant/Associate Professor in Mining Engineering

The Mining and Nuclear Engineering Department at Missouri S&T seeks applicants for a tenure track faculty opening in Mining Engineering with appointment at the assistant or associate professor level to start Spring 2018.
Responsibilities will include research, teaching, advising and service. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level classes within the mining programs, and distance and extension courses as appropriate. The candidate will advise undergraduates as well as graduate students, and fill appropriate service roles. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The department has 18 full-time faculty including 17 tenured or tenure-track professors and 1 full-time teaching faculty member. The department offers BS/MS/PhD degrees in mining engineering and nuclear engineering, and MS/PhD degrees in explosives engineering. The department currently has over 350 undergraduate and graduate students.
A PhD in Mining Engineering or a closely related area, with demonstrated potential for attracting influential externally-funded research is required.
Preference will be given to candidates who have expertise in rock mechanics, ground control, mineral reserve evaluation, mining related software, mine operations, and economics; however, other specializations will be considered.
