VCU's Department of Finance, Insurance and Real Estate offers high quality programs for the development and communication of knowledge in studies related to Finance, Real Estate, Risk Management & Insurance, Financial Planning, Financial Technology, and Actuarial science. We are committed to the professional advancement and success of our students, as demonstrated by our offering of programs that develop important and necessary skills.
The department has approximately 13 full-time and 16 part-time faculty members many of whom hold doctorates from reputed business schools. Departmental faculty have published in leading journals including the JF, JFE, RFS, JFQA, JBF, JRI, FM, JMCB, JIMF, JCF, JEF, JREFE and REE. The department supports WRDS platform and databases including CRSP, Compustat-Capital IQ, Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, Datastream, SNL, SDC, AuditAnalytics, Shark Repellant, MSCI GMI Ratings, MSCI ESG KLD, etc. The department is committed to the advancement of high quality research in line with the University's standing in the Carnegie classification – RU/VH. Our programs develop skills that result in highly sought after graduates. In fact, many national corporations have identified VCU's School of Business as a target school for recruitment. We are housed in a state of the art facility, Snead Hall. The School of Business is fully accredited by the AACSB.
The Department of Finance, Insurance and Real Estate in the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University invites applicants for one or more full-time, tenure track positions focused on high quality research on various finance topics. The department also seeks to fill the following teaching needs at the graduate and undergraduate level: derivatives, financial markets and institutions, and financial risk management. This position will be effective August 16, 2018.
A candidate must have PhD in Finance on the joining date and should demonstrate potential for high quality scholarly activity. Candidates must have experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment and must be also committed to do so as a faculty member at VCU. A record of high quality publications is preferred.
