The Department of Management in the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University invites applicants for a full-time tenure track faculty position in Management at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek candidates with research and teaching interests in the domain of creativity and innovation. We are open to candidates who approach creativity and innovation from either a micro (organization behavior/applied psychology) or macro (strategy/entrepreneurship) orientation. Primary teaching responsibilities will be for our undergraduate course Creativity and Ideation, with additional teaching possible at the MBA or doctoral level. This position is designed to support the new School of Business strategic plan that focuses on creativity in the curriculum.
About VCU: The Department offers an undergraduate major in Management with concentrations in business administration, entrepreneurship, and international business; an undergraduate major in Human Resource Management; and a Ph.D. in Business with a concentration in Management (OBHR).
Management faculty teach in the undergraduate, MBA, Executive MBA, and Ph.D. programs. The Department has 15 full-time faculty who are active researchers and engaged teachers. Management faculty have publications in leading journals including the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management, Strategic Management Journal, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and Organizational Research Methods. Virginia Commonwealth University enrolls over 31,000 students, with 3,300 enrolled in the School of Business. The city of Richmond consistently ranks among “Best Places to Live and Work in America” in several national publications.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Management or a related field (e.g.,Industrial/Organizational psychology) with research interests in that include creativity and/or innovation.
ABD candidates will be considered if the degree will be completed prior to start date.
All candidates must have teaching experience and be able to support our teaching needs for Creativity and Ideation, a course taught to all School of Business students.
Demonstrated ability to publish in top-tier academic journals and an active research agenda is required. The ideal candidate will have an active research stream with some projects related to creativity/innovation. A commitment to working with diverse students, faculty, and staff is required. Candidates must be eligible for employment in the United States. We seek candidates who have good communication skills, demonstrated commitment to excellence in both teaching and research, and a desire to work collaboratively with colleagues.
