Job Description

This position provides accounting and operational support for the Student Life and Athletics Department which includes the La Plata Student Association, student activities and athletic programs. The manager will provide complete bookkeeping for and will manage two operational cost centers, two grant accounts and twenty or more fund raising accounts, as well as prepare budget reports for office staff, head coaches, advisers and president’s or treasurers of clubs. This position serves as the primary point and expert in the contracting process and the purchase card procedures. The Manager establishes procedures for a smoothly operating office and presents a courteous, informed image at all times.


The work schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Job Requirements

Required Skills

  • Associate Degree, (Bachelor Degree preferred)
  • Minimum of two years accounting/bookkeeping experience
  • Competent typing skills, word processing experience, and familiarity with Word, Excel, Publisher or other similar software.
  • Knowledge of rules of grammar and punctuation and excellent spelling ability.
  • Knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping principles and applications. Preferably experience with Colleague.
  • Ability to meet and deal with all types of people (i.e. students, staff, faculty and visitors).
  • Ability to work with professional integrity and discretion.
  • Capacity and willingness to accept duties with initiative and resourcefulness.
