Position Summary
Responsible for coordinating and performing complex and highly responsible purchasing activities for the college, requiring exercise of independent judgment, initiative and knowledge of organization, policies and procedures and all purchasing laws. Furthers the District’s policies and procedures for increased opportunities for minority and women-owned business enterprises (MBWE).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for processing requisitions into purchase orders. Stays current with all applicable procedures, regulations, policies and laws. Reconciles and maintains purchasing, receiving and payable records related to campus issued purchase orders. Functions as college representative to external groups such as, but not limited to, Dallas Minority Purchasing Council and various Chambers of Commerce. Acts as liaison to DCCCD Office of Business Diversity and/or other internal departments to collaboratively work and achieve campus and District MWBE goals and objectives. Responsible for initiating, establishing, and maintaining business relationships with network and/or pools of diverse business enterprises. May solicit quotes to fulfill requisitions for campus purchase orders as required by DCCCD purchasing procedures. May assist with other Business Office functions such as budget adjustments, cashiering, and various other accounting functions as deemed necessary. May process requisitions in context of separation of duties. May approve purchase orders in context of separation of duties. Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to work independently and utilize and apply independent judgement and discretion in the preparation and analysis of bids. Advanced knowledge of computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals from diverse backgrounds. The ability to provide quality customer service.

Physical Requirements
Works with light, easy to handle materials requiring little physical effort.

Minimum Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or higher plus three years of experience in the purchase of goods and services purchasing functions and/or buying assigned commodities in a computer based purchasing system or Associate’s degree plus five years of experience in the purchase of goods and services purchasing functions and/or buying assigned commodities in a computer based purchasing system or graduation from high school or equivalent plus seven years of experience in the purchase of goods and services purchasing functions and/or buying assigned commodities in a computer based purchasing system. Official transcripts will be required.  ***Will be subject to a criminal background check.  Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check.***
